Volunteers from 131 Countries have come to UAE to Join The Asian Cup

Almost a small army of volunteers have come to UAE to help in conducting the 2019 Asian Cup. According to the reports, this is the first major sporting event that is taking place in the United Arab Emirates. Thus, the government is determined to make it the biggest Asian Cup to date. The officials of the United Arab Emirates have said that volunteers have come from 131 countries and they speak 41 different languages. The age of the youngest volunteer is 14 and the oldest one is of 84.

Almost 5000 people have been chosen to help to conduct the football tournament. The duties start from welcoming different teams and offering hospitalities to assisting supervise the venues. The government has started training programs for the volunteers who have come to participate in the event.

The director of Marketing and Communications for the Local Organising Committee, Ahmed Al Qubaisi, has said that the main focus of the volunteers is to spread the magic and the excitement of football to every citizen of the nation. Praising the efforts of the volunteers, he acknowledged that, they are the nucleus of any events. It is the volunteers who spread the energy of the event to enchant the public.

As per the organizers, 23000 applications were primarily submitted for volunteering. According to Mohammad Al Shateri, the sheer number explains the support of the citizens for the upcoming event. The seminars and the sessions to train the volunteers will continue until 1st February 2019.

The Asian Cup football tournament takes place every four years. This year the number of the teams has grown to 24. In the first match, to be played at Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi, UAE will be facing Bahrain.
