UAE Is Ready To Greet the World for the Special Olympic Games
The entire world has landed in the UAE’s capital. The air is filled with high optimism and, within a few hours, the various events lined up for the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 would kick off. The UAE is surely setting a standard with this Special Olympics world Games, which is being held in the Middle East for the first time.
Quickly taking a look into the details might allow one to observe that there are over 7,500 athletes from 200 nations contending in 24 categories, making this the most coalesce one in the 50-years history of the Special Olympics. She stated that in the coming few weeks, the Cabinet would be announcing some 31 new actions for the people of determination.
Earlier this week, a ministerial departure – participated in by people of determination, their families, government firms, private sector companies and NGOs – was held for the first time to appreciate and figure out the current challenges and the way ahead. It was held under the title ‘Retreat of Determination’. There were eight different classifications of topics, which include education, health, and international awareness, among others. All the challenges were debated with the people of determination. After which, 31 initiatives have been accepted and would go out from the Cabinet to the world in less than 50 days.
She stated that the number of nations taking part in the event had reached 200 (195 participants and five observers), which underlines the identification and certainty the world has shown on the UAE as a host country and its backing for the people of determination.

Mary Davis, CEO of Special Olympics International, stated that the World Games offered a platform for the special athletes to display their talents on the grand stage.
Ayman Abdel Wahab, regional president of Special Olympics Mena, stated that the Games provide a great opportunity for everyone to know the people of determination and the values of tolerance.
