UAE Is a Participant for the UN Charity Market in Geneva

UAE participates in an annual charity market which was organized by the United Nations in Geneva. The participation of UAE in the market was supported by the Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak. The market was supervised by UAE Permanent Representative to the UN, Obaid Salem Al Zaabi’s wife along with other International Organizations in Geneva.

The primary aim of the participation of UAE in the market is to fund charity programs and projects for children across the world. The pavilion from the United Arab Emirates showcased some of the items which have been handmade, some heritage products, and a special stand for Emirati food as well. The food area witnessed the most demand from the visitors and guests of the market which include diplomats, ambassadors, officials from international organizations, and members of permanent missions. The market reflected the stature and appreciation of UAE of other nationalities for the heritage and culture of the country. Obaid Salem Al Zaabi also praised the role which has been played by H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak for providing support the causes for women and children both outside and inside of the country. He also affirmed that Sheikha Fatima have got respect from many international organizations specially the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, UN Women who have given honors to her on many of the occasions.

Wife of Al Zaabi noted that Sheikha Fatima has provided different kinds of support for the annual market and she also stressed that the revenue that will be collected from the market will be donated to various international programs for children. Her humanitarian efforts and active contributions were also highlighted so that the position of the country can be enhanced in front of international forums.
