Thousands of residents would be taking part in events celebrating the fifth International Day of Yoga initiated by the Indian missions across the United Arab Emirates (UAE), as per the media reports.
The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Indian Consulate in Dubai, who are hosting the events, stated that they have got the support of the UAE authorities in all the emirates in order to hold Yoga events on International Yoga Day.
The event would be held at Umm Al Emarat Park, in Abu Dhabi, from 7 p.m. onwards on Thursday. Free entry, parking, yoga mats and T-shirts would be handed over to all participants on first-come-first serve basis.
Indian Ambassador to the UAE, Navdeep Singh Suri mentioned that His Highness Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, the Minister of Tolerance of UAE, would be the chief guest for the event. During the celebrations, Common Yoga Protocol would be followed with other yoga demonstrations by yoga enthusiasts from different nations. The presentation will be ensued with a cultural programme. The embassy would also be observing Yoga Day on 28th June at the Jahili Public Park in Al Ain.
After the event, photo shoots of yoga enthusiast doing yoga at iconic locations of Abu Dhabi; Emirates Palace, Etihad Towers and Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum would be arranged with Department of Culture, Abu Dhabi’s support.
The Indian Consulate in Dubai would be convening the main event at Zabeel Park in Dubai at 6.30 p.m. on Friday, according to Consul General Vipul. On Friday, similar events would be held in Sharjah and Ajman. In Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah, the event would be held on Saturday.
The International Day of Yoga is observed annually since its start by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015. Events are held across the globe to mark the day.
