On 24th June (Monday), the logo for the first UAE’s mission to the International Space Station (ISS) was revealed. The logo was unveiled by The Mohammad Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), in collaboration with the Federal Youth Authority (FYA). Well, on 25th September, the UAE’s late founding father Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s ambition for the UAE to reach space would finally come true.
The mission is a part of the UAE Astronaut Programme, which was started in 2017 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. The programme aims to train and prepare a team of Emiratis who would be sent to space for diverse scientific missions.
MBRSC underlined that the logo has been designed in association with the FYA. The logo features a sketch of UAE Founding Father Sheikh Zayed and a text stating “Zayed’s ambitions”.

Her Excellency Shamma bint Suhail Faris Al Mazrui, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Chairperson of the Federal Youth Authority, stated that they are happy to unite with MBRSC in designing the logo for the first Arab and Emirati mission to ISS, as Emirati youth would be a part of the mission.
Al Mazrui added that assigning Emirati youth to design the logo shows the extent of the leadership’s trust and interest, and constant support to young people in diverse fields and disciplines. It has helped to make Emirati youth a global model for leadership, creativity, and excellence. He further stated that the bequest of Emirati youth to design the logo for the first Emirati mission to ISS, intends to establish a distinct identity that communicates the UAE’s leadership in the field of space, as well as its culture and heritage.
His Excellency Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Chairman of MBRSC, stated that the mission’s logo mirrors the aspiration of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan for the Emirati youth to explore space, as he believed in their potentiality and was eager on having an Emirati space sector. Emirati astronaut Hazzaa Al Mansoori would be carrying the mission’s logo with him during his mission to ISS in September.
