Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Centre Inaugurates First Narrative History Tour

On 8th October, the first ‘Zayed Approach’ tour began at the Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Centre to stress on the life of late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and his accomplishments in a chronological style. It also told stories of people who lived during his leadership tenure and his life. This kind of news is not always available, which makes it priceless.

It would be a weekly pre-booked tour and would be offered to visitors in the form of a narrative story. It would be narrated in the local dialect and through Nabati poetry in order to make people informed about the Emirati heritage and also on the vision of Sheikh Zayed vision and accomplishments in various fields. Among the achievements of the late Sheikh Zayed includes, education, heritage and the development of Abu Dhabi’s future, while focusing on Zayed’s environmental approach that resulted in the establishment of Al Ain Zoo in 1968.

The Zayed Approach tours would consist of ten main themes: A preliminary rundown about Sheikh Zayed; Zayed and education with the establishment of the Nahyan School; the early stages of advancement; dealings with other nations; a trip through Abu Dhabi’s history; Zayed’s experience in resolving environmental problems; Zayed, the Ghaf tree and Houbara hero; Zayed’s agricultural dream; Zayed as a hunter; and finally, vision of the future of the UAE as uphold by Zayed.

This is why the Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Centre is eager to revive the historical heritage of the past, for the present and future. It would also be delivering a message to the young generations to emphasize the importance of restoring the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed’s values.

The name of the drive was inspired by a poem of Ali bin Salem Al Kaabi, Ambassador of the UAE to Morocco. Being close to the late Sheikh Zayed, he was familiar of late Sheikh Zayed’s passion for poetry.
