Mohamed Bin Zayed Discuss Bilateral Relations with German Chancellor

On 12th June, Wednesday, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany, convened an official meeting in the Federal Chancellery in Berlin. Both leaders debated on the means of bolstering the strategic partnership between the UAE and Germany. They also discussed on several regional and international issues of mutual interest.

During the meeting, which was attended by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, and H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, both sides considered the cooperation and collaboration in the areas of culture and education, economy, energy, industry, technology, as well as ways of extending them to new sectors to attain the aspiration of their peoples for development and prosperity.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and Merkel also debated on the latest regional and international developments, especially in the Arabian Gulf region.

At the start of the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed relayed the greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to German Chancellor, Merkel, and his wishes to the German people for greater progress, development and wealth while underscoring President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa’s eagerness to boost the UAE’s cooperation with Germany.

H.H. Sheikh Mohamed then stated that the growing relations between the two nations are strong and diverse, have observed progress in many areas, and have created many chances for future development and growth. H.H. Sheikh Mohamed then focused that the UAE has set up close relations with many nations, chiefly Germany, depending on mutual interests, respect and joint cooperation.

During the meeting, Merkel highlighted her country’s eagerness to cement its friendship with the UAE, mentioning that it looks forward to serve the interests of both peoples, and enhancing both nations’ coordination on regional and international issues of mutual concern.

At the end of the meeting, both sides confirmed that they would carry on bolstering the present strategic relations and improving their economic and commercial cooperation. They will raise their endeavors to deal with extremism, terrorism and violence, and motivate the international community to support peace, coexistence, understanding and tolerance, and maintain security and stability in the region.
