Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, was present during the inauguration ceremony in London of a new friendship society between the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom. The society is called UAE-UK Friendship Society. Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan is currently in the UK on a state visit.
Other attendees of this event include the UAE Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development Noura Bint Mohammad Al Kaabi and the UAE Minister of State Zaki Nussaibeh. On the British side, there was the UK Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa Alistair Burt. The UAE Ambassador to the UK Sulaiman Hamed Al Mazroui was also in attendance. Around 80 famed diplomats, politicians, businessmen and journalists were also present during the ceremony.
The aim of the UAE-UK Friendship Society is to boost the friendly relations between the two nations.
The inauguration of this new association was welcomed by Shaikh Abdullah. He also underlined the importance of the society in bringing about closer and stronger historical ties between the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom. He also praised the high level of the bilateral ties in all fields between both the nations.
The UK Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa, Alistair Burt highlighted the need of creating the UAE-UK Friendship Society. He placed emphasis on the role of the society in uplifting the strong ties between both the countries to a higher level.
The UAE Ambassador to the UK, Sulaiman Hamed Al Mazroui expressed his hope for the society becoming a center for social and cultural events apart from academic and political discussions. He also hoped that it will improve the bilateral ties.
