His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, along with Bill Gates, the Co-Founder of Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, evaluated the development made on a $100 million fund to promote vaccines and fight disease.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, received a phone call from the billionaire philanthropist Gates. During the call, Bill Gates and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed explored a number of issues of common interest. They even debated on the attempts made toward combating and averting diseases and epidemics that are hampering development, especially polio.
As per reports, the two men spoke about the Reaching the Last Mile Forum, to be held by the UAE capital on 19th November, 2019. At the last event that was held 18 months ago, Mr Gates, H. H Sheikh Mohamed and the British government promised $100 million to battle diseases including towards eradicating river blindness and lymphatic filariasis, also known as elephantiasis, which trouble millions worldwide.
His Highsness Sheikh Mohamed stated that the fund mirrors their long-term vision to protect lives and put an end to forsake tropical diseases.
During the phone call, H.H Sheikh Mohamed and Mr Gates emphasized their successful anti-disease collaboration which has so far resulted in managing diseases affecting children and women around the globe.
They spoke about the significance of joint action between regional and international humanitarian and charity organizations to guarantee best results and practices in the field of healthcare and disease fighting.
