During Eid al-Fitr holidays, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi greeted 172,695 people. About 103,207 of them were tourists or visitors and 69,488 were worshippers. Among the worshippers 18,475 attended Eid al-Fitr prayers and 51,013 carried out the daily prayers during the holidays.

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is carrying out special cultural tours themed ‘Our Culture’ during religious and national holidays to underscore the significance of such occasions and encourages Emirati culture. During the tours on Eid al-Fitr holidays, guides from the mosque described the history of the occasion and its significance to the Emirati community. Visitors were shown cannon, which is fired to observe the beginning of Eid and explained the Emirati culture, traditions, customs.
The iconic Islamic geometric design of the mosque has made it an international cultural destination that lures visitors from around the globe. The visitors can also learn about the role the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque plays in setting up a culture of tolerance, which personifies the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Founding Father of the UAE.
