On Sunday, His Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, welcomed German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas, who is currently in the UAE, as a part of his tour of the Middle East. Maas is on a tour to the Middle East with the intention to co-ordinate with partners in the region and discuss about Iranian tensions.
The leaders met at Al Shati Palace. H. H Sheikh Mohamed and Mr Maas conferred on the bilateral relationship between the UAE and Germany. They also debated over the channels to boost co-operation in the fields of cultural, social and educational, economic, and investment spheres. The leaders even shared their viewpoints on present developments in the region and also on the need for stability. The leaders considered approaches of strategic cooperation and coordination on a number of regional and international dossiers.
The meeting with His Highness Sheikh Mohamed was followed with a press conference that was held by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, and the German diplomat. At the press conference, the pair addressed the “sabotage attack” on four vessels off the coast of Fujairah last month.
Mr Maas is scheduled to head to Iran on Monday. His trip to the UAE follows with a stop in Iraq on Saturday where he brought up the need for Germany to take a leading role in mediation and not simply request increased diplomatic endeavors.
