Abdullah bin Zayed Inaugurates 5th Annual Conference of Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies, Honors Winners

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, inaugurated the 5th Annual Conference of the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies in Abu Dhabi.

The three-day long event is being coordinated under the theme, “Alliance of Virtues An Opportunity for Global Peace”. Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki and Prime Minister of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmed, was bestowed the 4th Al Hassan bin Ali International Peace Award by Sheikh Abdullah. The award was accepted by the ambassadors of the two nations. He also lauded their practical role to attain peace in the Horn of Africa.

Among those who were present at the honoring function were Sheikh Abdallah bin Bayyah, President of the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies; Samuel D. Brownback, United States Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom; Muhammad bin Abdul Karim al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League, and others.

Around 800 representatives of diverse religions, international human rights organizations, and a wide range of scholars, thinkers and researchers worldwide are a part of the forum. Sheikh Abdullah greeted the participants at the conference.

About the event Sheikh Abdullah commented that the UAE has a steadfast way depending on values ​​of tolerance, peace and harmony among individuals and is advocating interfaith talks for the benefit of the mankind.
